Interview with Jenny

Take a moment to read this before scheduling your consultation.

How long have you been doing what you do and how did you become a personal performance specialist?

For the past 16 years, I have worked as a performance specialist in the area of accounting software automation.  Three years ago, I transitioned into performance coaching after a defining moment in my life.  I had become a single parent, changed careers, started a new business and was the sole breadwinner for my family ALL in the same year.  To say the least, it was a challenging time in my life.

People who know me say that I am driven and motivated.  I knew that it was going to take more than motivation to break through this challenge.  I would have to make some drastic changes if I was going to achieve my goals.

One by one I started replacing self-defeating habits with empowering habits. I consistently worked on improving my organization and focus and every month I was able to consistently accomplish more than I did the prior month and I wanted to help others to do the same.

Who do you work with exactly?

My ideal client is an executive or manager of a mid-size manufacturing company who is struggling with a demanding workload and wants to implement proven techniques to be more effective.

What makes you stand out from other “business or executive coaches”?

My specialty allows me to differentiate myself from other coaches.  I specialize in coaching executives and managers of mid-size manufacturing companies, specifically in the area of performance improvement and systemization.  I have worked with this industry for many years, I understand their goals and challenges, and I am able to help them move through the process faster.

What type of personality do you work best with and what is expected from the client?

The people I work best with are opened minded, with a strong sense of self and a passion for life.  They understand their values and they know what they want.  They take full responsibility for their actions, have a positive attitude and a great sense of humor.  In times of challenge they focus on the solution and are natural leaders.

The clients I agree to work with must be serious about creating change and commit to the process by doing the work assigned. They must have a high level of trust in themselves to follow their gut and to step outside their comfort zone.  When we talk, there must be a feeling of good rapport.

What type of professionals is this NOT as likely to work with?

It has been my experience that people who are lead into coaching by their manager or someone else are usually not as fully committed to change, because it was not their idea.  They may not develop as much trust in the coach due to a feeling of pressure or resentment that someone is monitoring their results.

It is also my experience that people who are unsure of what they want and are unwilling to spend the time to figure it out will likely be stuck in the first few steps of this program.  I recommend that they first take the time to discover what is most important to them and what they want to achieve.

I’m less interested in working with people who are looking for a quick fix or who are doing it for short-term rewards such as a raise or promotion.  There has to be a level of integrity when it comes to personal change and it is essential that you are doing it because you value yourself and you want to create a more fulfilling life.

What exactly is the “Performance Coaching Program” and what does it include?

Improving performance begins with understanding what you want to achieve, what you value, your major struggles and what motivates you to take action.  Then, it means taking serious action on it.

How often do I receive coaching and for how long?

I have weekly, bi-weekly and monthly coaching programs available.  Depending on your goals, budget and schedule, we can devise a program that works for you.  Six months is normally the minimum required to achieve noticeable results.  Most clients stay on the program for six to twelve months starting with weekly sessions and then move to bi-weekly sessions as they become more accustomed to the steps of the program.

How quickly can I expect results?

Clearly, this depends on your commitment and how much you put into doing the work.  That said, all clients see some results within the first couple of months in the form of more concentration, more organization, more time for new activities, new empowering habits, increased self-esteem and a stronger sense of leadership over life.

Is there a way to provide an ROI to my company?

Yes, I recommend that clients who are interested in working with me complete a Coaching ROI (Return On Investment) form and review it with their management team.  If your company is going to invest in your coaching, it is likely that there will be certain expectations from this investment.  In addition, you will have your own expectations from the program and it is important to discuss this up-front.

This program sounds EXACTLY like what I need.  HOW do I get started?

You can either call 916.740.1130 or email info@coachjennylopez.com to request an information package that includes Program Pricing, a Coaching ROI form and a Coaching Agreement for you to review and complete.  When you have reviewed and completed these forms, you email them back to me and we set up a consultation session to discuss your goals and schedule your upcoming sessions.  If you have any questions at any time, call or email me and I will be happy to answer them.

I’m not sure I’m ready to get started.  How can I sample your work and see if it’s the right solution for me?

A way to sample the Personal Performance Improvement System is by subscribing to the email newsletter “FOCUS MATTERS.” This newsletter provides you with proven tips, tools and powerful techniques that I use in my Performance Coaching Program.  It is a must for anyone who wants to improve their results by implementing empowering changes in their life.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Make performance improvement a priority.

We examine when in your day you are making time to work on your Performance.  We make room in your schedule to do the work involved so you can move forward in your goals.  This includes time to work on your vision, goals, planning, organization, systems, mindset and skills.  You will plan your day, prioritize your tasks, track your activities and review your results.  You will identify and eliminate distractions and let go of unessential tasks by delegating so you can free up time to work on priority tasks.

Define your life vision and what you want to achieve.

We put your life vision into a tangible format so that you can review it every day and use as a “beacon” while you are working toward your goals.  You will define how you want to spend your days, what you want to do in your life, what legacy you want to leave and why.

Identify your roles, goals and responsibilities.

We define each of your roles (e.g., Self, CFO, Mentor, Partner, Parent, Sibling, Friend) and the responsibilities of each role.  Then we set goals for each role.  By doing this you will identify what is most important to you and where you want to commit your time.  This also allows you to create more balance and to avoid putting all of your attention in some roles and little or no attention in others.

Plan according to your priorities.

We customize a daily schedule that incorporates your roles and goals. When you know your priorities and what you value, it is much easier to plan your day around your priorities.  By planning your day ahead of time you are more likely to stay on track and say ”NO” when appropriate.

Get organized to save time and energy.

Here you will learn to use your time and support systems more wisely.  We organize your work and living space by eliminating clutter and distractions.  We also organize your support system by evaluating your tools, advisors, staff and other partners that you depend on to achieve your goals. Every minute you spend searching for information, performing less valuable tasks or responding to distractions is valuable time wasted.

Create systems to track your actions and results.

We develop simple and effective tracking tools to track your performance and review your results.  This enables you to monitor your progress, see what is working and what is not working so you can make adjustments in your daily schedule as needed.  Each action is categorized with a role and a goal.

Improve your mindset to be more effective.

In the previous steps we created external tools to help set you up for success.  In this step we work on your internal tools and the driving force in your success.  We work on improving your focus by eliminating clutter and distractions from your mind.  Your mind has a tremendous impact on your performance.  Your mind sets the stage for either an effective or ineffective day.  The process is simple.  Your mindset directly affects your enthusiasm, your enthusiasm drives your actions and your actions create your results.   Setting your mind up for success is half the battle.

Enhance your skills to increase your value.

This step involves creating a plan to help you become a stronger and more rounded individual. This means seeking ways to go outside your comfort zone to improve your inner and outer strength.  Most of us tend to fall into habits of using only some of our abilities.  If your job is to work with numbers, you probably use your left brain more than your right brain.  Likewise, if you sit at a desk all day, you are probably using more mental abilities than physical.   Consistently seeking new ways to challenge yourself enables you to learn and grow.  This may be learning a new language, playing an instrument, doing more public speaking or joining a running club.

Be consistent to allow new habits to form.

This step is where the rubber meets the road and where change will take place.  Many studies show that it usually takes three weeks to form a new habit.  Once formed, there must be consistent enforcement for that habit to become easier and eventually more automatic. We work together to enforce your new habits by bringing awareness on how habits are formed, learning about the process of change and discussing what to do if you “fall off the wagon,” so to speak.  This will enable you to feel more in control of the situation and keep yourself on track.
